Winter Society Meeting
On Monday evening, January 23, 2012, Denver Christian Schools held a winter society meeting at the Greenwood Community Church. The attendees included parents and grandparents, alumni and staff, Board of Trustees members and many other friends of the school. About 80 persons were present.
The meeting began with opening exercises, a welcome by Board of Trustees President, Craig Wildrick and devotions by teacher, Brad Homan. The core of the meeting centered on the ways in which the school is Inspired, Equipped, and Engaged. These presentations spotlighted on our Strategic Plan, Operating and Improvement Plan and accomplishments, school assessment and evaluation processes, reenrollment procedures, new methods of communication, a new Director of Development position, and the request for new board member nominations. Presenters were Ray Boersema (CEO), Lynda Micikas (Director of Academics), Mark Swalley (Director of Operations), Sean Monroe (Director of Finance) and Sean Wennerstrom, Board of Trustees Treasurer.
Following the presentations we had a period of audience participation which included questions and comments.
To bring the meeting to a close, our new Denver Christian Schools brand, Inspired, Engaged, and Equipped, was explained and the visual symbol was introduced. The evening concluded with a litany of celebration and dedication in which we used the content of our Guiding Principles to inform our words and thoughts. Teachers, Carla Lenderink and Donna Smits, along with campus principals, Rich Schemper and Kati Melton, led the responsive reading and concluded the meeting with prayer.
